ASCE is often called upon by Congressional Committees to provide expert testimony on infrastructure matters. On occasion, the Society will also submit a prepared statement to ensure your voice is heard when key policy decisions are being made. This includes sending letters to Congressional leadership and key members of Congress, either on our own or alongside a group of stakeholders, as a means of advancing the Society's policy priorities. The Government Relations team also works closely with ASCE's nine technical institutes to provide guidance to federal agencies as they engage in the rule-making process.

To ensure our policy positions prevail and our codes and standards are considered, ASCE prepares responses to published Notice of Inquiry, Request for Information, as well as proposed, draft, and final rule making decisions. Whether drafting written testimony, comments or other prepared statements, ASCE relies on the text of the Society's 172 Public Policy Statements to help ensure all infrastructure is safe, resilient and sustainable.
